PHILIPSBURG - Leading Information and Communications Technology (ICT) experts from the region and across the world will be converging on the tiny Caribbean nation of St Maarten for an intensive week of technology meetings.

The Westin St. Maarten Dawn Beach Resort & Spa will be the venue for the 6th Annual Caribbean Internet Governance Forum being jointly hosted by the Government of St Maarten, the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) and the Geneva-based non-profit ISOC (Internet Society).

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CHLOE Doras, 16, of the Verchilds High School has demonstrated that hard work brings rewards, as she was announced winner of the Caribbean Association of National Telecommunications Organization (CANTO) regional essay competition.

The competition was launched in mid-May of this year to commemorate World Telecommunications and Information Society Day. Students from across the region between the ages of 14 and 18 submitted 600 word essays describing the contributions of ICT to their respective countries and to the world in general.

Montserrat Innovators present at BVI ICT Roadshow PDF Print E-mail

BRADES, Montserrat -- Daniel Joseph of Lavabits, a software development firm on Montserrat was one of the featured presenters at the Caribbean ICT Roadshow BVI, which began on Tortola on Sunday, 16 May.

Joseph is part of a trio of young nationals who began the company last December to develop software for the global market. Daniel and his brother Samuel, along with Manish Valechha launched the company to provide real world solutions to the marketplace and to show that it could be done from Montserrat.

Dominica - The use of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) in Dominican schools will be expanded with the implementation of a new project, ‘Digital Classroom Live Portal’.

The Ministry of Education on Friday launched the project at the Public Service Training Centre, in partnership with the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL).
